MAC’S GREAT WHITE
In Māori legend, Lord of the Forest Tāne-mahuta grew tired of living in the dark, hemmed in between his sky father (Ranginui) and earth mother (Papa-tū-ā-nuku). He pushed them both apart and his actions created the world of light that exists today. This unique and interesting story is woven into the fabric of Māori culture, with storytelling an important part of its history. Mac’s history is built upon stories of its own, with Mac’s Great White (a world of light in a witbier!), one piece of a greater legacy that contributes to the brewery Mac’s has become today.
The unique striped bottle Mac’s comes in is also a part of the legend of Mac’s, uniquely bringing to life its story and personality in a memorable way. It is what’s in the bottle, however, that will particularly impress, with Great White a classic version of the Belgian-style witbier, delivering an underlying sweetness and a dry finish without any real bitterness. Relaunched in 2006, Mac’s Great White has since claimed three bronze awards at the prestigious BrewNZ Awards, and earned a gold medal at the Australian International Beer Awards in 2008.
