EMERSON’S BIRD DOG
Song and dance play a vital role in many cultures, including in the traditional Māori performing arts, or kapa haka. Literally meaning to form a line (kapa) and dance (haka), it is a powerful combination of singing, dancing and chanting. A reflection of its rich history in New Zealand, such performances tap into something deeper that connects us and stir our souls. It was a love for music and the emotional response it elicits that inspired Emerson’s Bird Dog, named for The Verlaines’ album of the same name.
Released in 1987 by this New Zealand band and widely considered to be their finest piece of work, Bird Dog’s delicate, sophisticated pop inspired this India Pale Ale, with the album’s cover also appearing on the bottle’s original label. You will taste the passion that went into making Emerson’s Bird Dog in the intense flavours which deliver a smooth, resiny beer.
