EMERSON’S LONDON PORTER
It may seem counterintuitive, but if you’re planning on enjoying a couple of different beers in one sitting, it is often better to start with a dark ale. Bitterness has the effect of numbing your palate, so by starting with a beer at the hoppier end of the spectrum you will not be able to fully appreciate the depth of flavour in the next beer you try. Start with a dark ale, like Emerson’s London Porter, and enjoy the full-flavoured journey of each beer.
Porter is the oldest commercially brewed style, with the name thought to come from the London street and river porters in the 18th century who were partial to this type of beer. London Porter is the original brew from the Emerson’s range and is renowned for its rich aroma and flavour. It pours a deep brown colour and while full-bodied it is not heavy, offering a creamy texture and dry-ish palate full of roasted malt and coffee notes.
