MALT SHOVEL BREWERS HOPPY HEFE
Back in 1806 James Squire, former convict and Australia’s first brewer, opened his original brewing tavern ‘The Malting Shovel’ on the shore of the Parramatta River, halfway between Sydney Town and Parramatta. An enterprising man, this was the ideal location to entice thirsty passengers from their vessels along this busy river thoroughfare, and try one of his delicious beers.
Just over two hundred years later, thirsty drinkers are still enjoying the fruits of Mr Squire’s early labours, thanks to the exceptionally crafted output of The Malt Shovel Brewery. Home to a small team of highly skilled brewers, it is a hotbed of experimentation and innovation, and proves that bigger does not, most assuredly, mean better. Now the team is proud to introduce you to Hoppy Hefe, a beer that embodies the proud tradition of cutting-edge craftsmanship that started with James Squire and continues with the talented brewers at The Malt Shovel Brewery today.
